Room Transcripts

Rooms can be set to record transcripts conversations that take place in the room. The transcripts can then be viewed later in HTML format. You have the option of making the transcripts available to all users, or just to administrators and moderators. Administrators can also choose how long transcripts are retained for, and whether room moderators may control transcripts for their room. Users are always notified when their conversations are being recorded. Not available with FREE Edition.

Remote (Web-based) Administration

Administrators can now configure ChatSpace remotely from any Java enabled web browser by using the new web-based Remote Administration tool.  An online ChatSpace Configuration Manual, in HTML, provides detailed explanations of all the ChatSpace Configuration options. Not available with FREE Edition.

Java Embedding Wizard

Administrators can now embed the Java Client into web pages easily using the new Java Embedding Wizard. This makes integrating ChatSpace directly into an existing site even easier.

Improved Security

Improved password administration and simplified login processing improve the ChatSpace security interface.

ChatSpace Community Directory

A central listing of all currently running ChatSpace Desktops and Servers! This gives you 2 main benefits:

  1. Access to more Users!  A steady stream of users will be moving through the ChatSpace Community Directory. Your server can be automatically included and update in the directory so that they can visit you!
  2. Users can easily connect to your server!   Even if your Internet address changes (due to dial-up connections, etc.). Your users can locate your server with a ChatSpace URL that does not change!  You can put this URL on your home page, send it via email and your users can bookmark it.

Audit Records

Optionally writes a record to an audit file for various events:

Member signon/signoff
Room entry/exit
Password violations
Server-Server Clustering events

Hostname Hiding

Conceals the hostname of your members to ensure their privacy.

Java Client Enhancements

The Java Client has been improved in the following areas:

Color can now be added to user messages.
Sounds can be easily sent while in Chat Rooms, or in Person-to-Person chat.
Streamlined interface... right-click pop-up menu for commands to other members

Updated Web Interface

The look and feel of the ChatSpace web interface has been updated.  The new interface gives you instant access to chat rooms and private chats with individual members.  In connection with the Community Directory it also allows your nickname to follow you as you move between chat sites.

Virtual Hosting Support

ChatSpace now supports the hosting of up to several hundred "virtual" chat servers on one physical system.  Each chat server has a unique configurations including IP address and DNS name.
