Current ChatSpace Community Server customers who upgrade to Version 3.0
will immediately notice the inclusion of message board technology. Community
members can now communicate in real-time via chat and post messages for
viewing by members at any time. With this chat product there is no need
to hunt for compatible message board software. It's all included!
Community Server 3.0 also includes new avatars and buddy lists. Your
members can now associate themselves with avatars that are placed next
to their messages. Buddy Lists, a popular feature with chat users, are
now available in Community Server allowing members to see who on their
contact list is also in the chat room. From this list they can also conduct
a person-to-person private chat.
The redesigned Community Server interface includes message board features
to the left and bottom of the chat area.
Also, Community Server 3.0 sports a streamlined Java Client for quick
and easy loading. This "kernel client" loads only the features
that the member needs in order to get up and chatting quickly. When the
user wants the use of additional features (such as memos, file transfer,
etc), then those interface elements can be loaded. With the use of the
Community Server, chat communities can now address more diverse audiences.
For chat site developers, Community Server 3.0 includes ASP (Active Server
Pages) integration. It allows customizations of chat sites to be made
using ASP instead of proprietary scripting languages. The ASP interface
also plugs the Community Server into IIS to keep everything running on
one server.
